Dispatcher

Laclede Electric Cooperative seeks an organized and dedicated Dispatcher to assign and dispatch after-hours crews, ensuring member needs are met with Safety as the top priority. What we’re looking for:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Personal qualities: reliability, coachability, dedication, integrity, positive attitude, and accountability.
  • Passing a company required drug screening is mandatory.

What you can expect:

  • Dispatch crews for outage restoration and service issues.
  • Communicate with field personnel using proper radio protocol and FCC regulations.
  • Monitor outage management systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide detailed status reports and ensure smooth dispatcher transitions.
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including calls and radio dispatching.
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment and may involve intermittent standing, walking, sitting, bending, or crouching. May lift objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Typical shifts rotate between 4:30pm – 12:30am and 12:15am to 8:15am Monday through Friday. Weekend and holiday coverage includes daytime shift. (Shifts are subject to change.)
  • Overtime can be expected, especially during major storm events.
  • This is an hourly, union position.

What we’re looking for:

  • Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in corporate accrual accounting is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret budgets, general ledgers and accounting functions, and apply cooperative accounting practices and principles.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must possess and demonstrate effective administrative and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of double entry accrual accounting is essential, plus the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word proficiently.
  • Work is performed in a typical office setting and may involve intermittent standing, walking, sitting, bending, or crouching. May lift objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally.

What you can expect:

  • Apply properly and accurately the accounting principles relating to the electric utility industry.
  • Develop a unique working knowledge of the accounting requirements following the Rural Development Utilities Program (RDUP) procedures for nonprofit distribution electric cooperatives.
  • Safeguard permanent accounting records in a confidential manner and in compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
  • In coordination with the General Accountant, distributes vendor invoices to appropriate departments for approval, ensures processing of all accounts payable in a timely manner, and archives all check vouchers and invoices.
  • Maintains fixed asset accounting of all distribution plant of the Cooperative and processes special equipment on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for all fleet related invoices, maintaining subsidiary records on all fleet equipment, and processes monthly transportation costs to the appropriate capital and expense areas.
  • Charge out inventory material used, posts all inventory related invoices, and processes monthly inventory close and stores expense spread.
  • Prepare inventory of work order summaries and process closing of work orders.

Coordinates the requisition process across all Cooperative departments, solicits quotes from vendors on material purchases, prepares and remits electronic purchase order, and monitors the open purchase orders are closed when fully invoiced.

What we’re looking for:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of progressive experience in financial accounting, preferably RUS accounting and GAAP.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must possess and demonstrate effective administrative and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting software is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word are essential.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret budgets, general ledgers and accounting functions, and apply cooperative accounting practices and principles.
  • Work is performed in a typical office setting and may involve intermittent standing, walking, sitting, bending, or crouching. May lift objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

What you can expect:

  • Responsible for accurately and efficiently maintaining financials and accounting records consistent with Rural Utilities Service (RUS) accounting practices and procedures as well as GAAP.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the Cooperative’s general ledger accounting system employing the Uniform System of Accounts prescribed by the Rural Development Utilities Programs (RDUP).
  • Supervise and direct various accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, fixed asset transactions, distribution of asset management and fleet management, material inventory processing, work order analysis and processes, purchasing activities, and regular report preparation.
  • Supervise and direct the Capital Credits Coordinator including oversight of subsidiary ledgers as they relate to Capital credit allocations, damage claims, collections, forecasting, estate retirement, and general recordkeeping.
  • Assists the CFO with development/coordination of the annual budget process, Fort Leonard Wood contract administration, financial reporting and annual audit preparation, monthly bank and ledger reconciliations, and provide research and analysis support for special projects.
